Chiefs welcome rookie WR Bowe to camp

The Chiefs just signed first round draft pick David Bowe and he spent his first day getting accustomed to the NFL. The first thing he did in practice? He was placed on the physically-unable-to-perform list, and then strapped to a goal post and had a sports drink dumped all over him.

Chiefs head coach Herm Edwards said that Bowe was only placed on the PUP list because he has missed 15 practices and it wouldn't be fair to throw him out there with all the other players until he can get into the groove of camp. Edwards said that Bowe could be off the list in a couple of days.

But, the reasoning for him getting strapped to the goalpost wasn't nearly as nice.

Bowe’s first official act on the practice field was not to practice, but to have wide receiver Eddie Kennison tape him to a goalpost before Michael Bennett, Boomer Grigsby and Casey Printers poured a cooler of iced sports drink over Bowe’s head.

“This is for what you missed,” Grigsby said, referring to the first 10 days of training camp.

Welcome to the NFL, rookie.
