Bonds hits 756...

Some news stories transcend the boundaries of sports, and this is one of them. We are a football oriented show, but this is news to sports fans period.

Barry Bonds hit #756 in the bottom of the 5th inning last night, on a 3-2 pitch from Nationals pitcher Mike Bacsik to right-center, going yard with a 435 ft bomb.

You can bet Bacsik is currently in some dark room somewhere, in the fetal position, crying and cursing Barry Bonds' name. He changed his future from being known as some guy who played professional baseball once to the guy who threw the pitch with which Bonds broke Henry Aaron's record. Shame for him.

As far as the asterisk that some are calling to be put in the record books, I say boo to the MLB for not testing adequately. Otherwise there would be no questions. Bonds never tested positive, and therefore there can be no asterisk (although I am about 97.3% sure he gained about 35 pounds in one offseason due to a needle and a tourniquet). Besides, as long as Alex Rodriguez doesn't get hurt, it'll be his record in a matter of ten years or so.

So enjoy your record, Barry. I think only you will know for sure if you really broke it. Oh, and don't make the mistake of thinking that just because you retire you can tell all your secrets. Your record will be out like a gay man at Disney.

How many more home runs does Barry Bonds hit? I am guessing Barry might have taken his last crack. He is partly robotic with all the attachments he uses. Don't they enhance his performance? What a conundrum.
