Hines Ward breaks his nose

According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Hines Ward suffered a minor fracture of his nose in Sunday night's preseason game against the Eagles. Mike Tomlin did not disclose the injury in his post game press conference, but when asked about it today, he said "Hines is Hines." Nothing could be more true. Ward's nose was broken on a post route over the middle in which Brian Dawkins made the tackle. Dawkins was slow to get up. Hines wasn't. Ward participated in practice on Monday, leaving from the Steelers practice facility on the South Side to have surgery to reset the bone. Hines missed practice today because of the surgery, but has said he will not miss any more practice or any regular season action due to the injury. He also has not ruled out the Steelers final preseason game on Thursday night, but Mike Tomlin will most likely err on the side of caution.

Blue collar, baby...
