Green

We talked about it on the podcast (coming soon to an ear near you - look for Mike's post about that today or tomorrow) and now it has come to be.

Trent Green is ALMOST a Dolphin. Barring a failed physical, he will be in white, green, and orange by next week. In even MORE interesting news, Daunte has come out and said he'd like to compete for the job, which is contradictory to the reports that he wanted to be dealt if they picked up Trent.

Now, Culpepper wants to stay and compete, but Miami is looking to trade him. So, there will be an upset Daunte Culpepper on the market if anyone is interested. Any takers? His knee might hold up for 6 games and he might not throw INT-lasers instead of running out of bounds. Ya just never know.

Congratulations to Miami fans, though. That and good luck on Green's head staying on. Two seasons max! Shoulda drafted Quinn...

I like the trade. From what I heard the pick they traded for him is either a 4th or 5th round pick based on how he performs or something like that.

And Mike and Mike on ESPN Radio were reporting that Culpepper was demanding to be traded and wanted out. Interesting change of opinion. He probably realized that Miami is the only team he even has a shot at starting for.

There is an interesting trend in sports recently where people just instantly go back on the things they say. I don't know what it is.

As for Culpepper, the 'Fins will trade his ass to any team willing to give a draft pick for him. They will get what they want for him, which won't be much. They stared down the Chiefs and the Chiefs blinked. They originally wanted a 2nd rounder for Green, now they get a 4th rounder. (The incentive is his playing time, If he plays 12 games or something like that, the KC gets a 4th rounder.)

Good trade, IMO.

After a little research, (watching NFLTA) the incentive is if Green is active in 70% of offensive plays this year, then the traded pick becomes a 4th rounder.

Here is another backtrack...

Immediately after the trade was announced on Tuesday, Culpepper went ahead and said that he wanted to compete for the job. NOW, however, he wants not to be traded, but to be released. I don't see the Dolphins allowing this to happen, but if it comes down to it, they will have to. What a fucked up sitch.
